Clients Rights and Responsibilities
In accordance with New York State Rules of Court, all matrimonial clients must receive from his or her attorney what is called a "Statement of Client's Rights and Responsibilities." This Statement must be provided to the client at the initial conference and prior to the signing of any written retainer agreement. This Statement should be read by the client carefully before she or he signs it. It contains vital information about the relationship between the client and the attorney.

Living Will, Heath Care Proxy and Power of Attorney
These sample documents are appropriate for use in New York, but we also prepare versions for other states (it may be useful to prepare more than one form when a person spends part of the year in one state in part in another).

The Living Will is a document which communicates the individual’s wishes about the withholding or withdrawal of treatment.

The Health Care Proxy is the mechanism by which the individual chooses a "health care agent" to make medical decisions when he or she lacks the capacity to do so. These documents don’t require an attorney for their preparation, and they can save loved ones and medical personnel considerable anguish and confusion if a medical catastrophe occurs.

We routinely prepare these documents as part of our estate and elder law planning for clients.

Forming a Corporation
The decision to form an entity is usually an easy one, most people who operate businesses understand the need to insulate themselves from personal liability through the formation of some type of entity. The decision as to what type of entity to form (corporation, partnership, limited liability company) is usually more involved and will depend on a number of factors including the nature of the business, tax ramifications and the form of management. Our goal is to help you to determine the appropriate entity that suits your business needs and then to create a structure through which you can achieve your business goals.

Completing the "Forming a Corporation" document will help us to assist you as you begin the process of forming a New York business corporation.

Completing the Real Estate Checklist will assist us in guiding you through the process of either selling or purchasing a home.
